"Anna Bulanda"

Anna Bulanda
From the parents of: Anna Bulanda
Anna Bulanda was born on 25.07.1992 Nowy Sacz, Poland
Our daughter Anna is a very joyful girl. She is enjoying every moment of her life. She likes going to school very much and spends a lot of time learning. However, her health is getting worse and worse and it is more and more difficult to meet friends and to go to school. Anna is struggling against severe disease - mucoviscidosis. At the age of 7 doctors diagnosed this disease. Anna has always suffered from many illnesses, often pneumonia. She has been in hospitals many times and the treatment has always been long and difficult. We had to feed Anna directly into stomach with special food because Anna didn't take up enough weight. She also takes oxygen-therapy because of difficulties in breathing (dysponea). Anna has a younger brother. Unfortunately he is also ill, mucoviscidosis again... We had one more son, Robert, but he died at the age of 10 months, and again he was diagnosed mucoviscidosis. In Poland the treatment is very expensive because very few medicine is refunded comparing to other countries. We do whatever we can to supply our children with very expensive medicine and rehabilitation equipment. Anna has been taking every second month "Bramitob", the medicine that costs 8,100 Polish zlotys monthly (about $2,500). The only way to save our daughter's life is lungs transplantation. Unfortunately it is not made in Poland and its cost is about $150,000. Polish Health Care System (NFZ) does not refund for this kind of surgery and for a normal person it is not possible to gather such sum of money.

We want to do everything possible for Anna to live; we want to fulfill her dreams and not to be afraid of passing time. How much time is left?

Thank you all - Jan and Halina Bulanda
